ULTEVIS

Ultevis is a mountain range with a 25 km long manganese mineralization.

In the area there are also pegmatites with beryl and topaz.

Sör Hårås, Juoråive, Stuor Njuoskes are some of the specific points of interest in this area.

This district have been subject to a large number of surveys: boulder tracing, geological mapping, geophysical survey, geochemical sampling.

Geology:

Volcanic rocks with pegmatites.

Minerals:

"Alurgite" (manganese mica), andradite, apatite, baryte, beryl, bixbyite, braunite, fluorite, haussmannite, hematite, hollandite, hyalophane, manganite, magnetite powellite, pyrolusit, skapolit, svabite, "viridine" (manganese andalusite)

History:

In 1935, a boulder found in Palgejaure close to Murjek, caused a boulder tracing for manganese. In 1943, SGU found a manganese mineralisation in Ultevis, 135 km from the place where the first boulder was found.
