TJÅMOTIS

The "Tjåmotis area" particulary
refers to two sites.

Latanjarka and Kiuri (Rassåive)

LATANJARKA
Wollastonite in Limestone

Geology:
Agglomerate belonging to the acid volcanic group; porphyre, tuffite

Minerals:
Wollastonite, mikrocline, quartz, garnet (andradite-grossulare), apatite, sphene, calcite.

KIURI-RASSÅIVE
Silvermineralization

Geology:

The country rocks of the area belong to the East Volcanic Group which consists of a mixture of lavas, pyroclastics, epiclastics and reworked volcanic detritus. The main type of mineralization in the area is a fine-grained sulphide impregnation hosted in interbanded res and grey-whitee gneisses. The mineralization is characterized by galena-sphalerite-chalcopyrite-pyrite. The galena is argentiferous and silver sulphide occurs in minor amounts, The sulphides are accompanied by purple and colourless fluorite and green amazonite.

The silver and galena vein at Kiuri has been known since the 1600:s. This occurrence was subsequently worked on a small scale.

Minerals:
Pyrite, galena, sphalerite, chalcopyrite, malachite, azurite, quartz, calcite, fluorite, chlorite, epidote, amazonite, andradite.
